Yesterday I found a very interesting report in the journal “Der Spiegel”, which described the political situation in North Korea.
North Korea is definitely one of the most mysterious countries in the world. Only little information is known about the state and its dictator. Even the Americans have few data which describe this country with its leader Kim Jong Il. The reason for this is that Americans have supported the South Koreans in the Korean War since 1950 and thus they don’t even have an embassy in North Korea. Indeed, North Korea and its neighbouring state of South Korea and are still at war.
But how will the future look like after King Jong Il has become very ill? In order to collect information about it, the American agents questioned neighbouring states like South Korea and People's Republic of China. After numerous discussions which were documented by American agents they could find out that after the death of Kim Jong Il, North Korea has no real chance to survive economically and politically. Even the giant neighbouring state China would under certain circumstances accept a reunified Korea.
In my opinion, North Korea remains a sensitive issue, because you eventually don’t know what the county with its unpredictable dictator intend to plan. Presumably, the dictator will make his youngest son to his own successor which means that the dictatorial regime can exist further. Another thing that must necessarily be considered is that North Korea is a dangerous force that has many unknown atomic resources. For this reason, we must never underestimate North Korea!
